BMC Control-M cut the firm’s workload processing time by up to 15%, manages critical scheduling processes and helped eliminate errors, according to an ICICI official.

BMC Control-M’s suite of products provides a range of features to help IT and business users better automate, control and manage business processes, including: application integration, dynamic workload management, automated file transfer, reporting / analytics, and auditing, security, and compliance.

“Our business depends on ‘on-time’ batch cycle completion,” said V.V. Balaji, executive vice president, Technology and Service Delivery at ICICI Prudential Life, in a statement. “BMC Control-M is helping us optimize this process. It is aligned with our organizational objectives of reducing total cost of ownership and improving operational efficiency.”

At ICICI, BMC Control-M is tightly integrated with the AS/400 systems for Life-Asia, a web-based, real-time life administration system for insurance products. This integration enables the ICICI operations team more easily manage scheduled jobs-processing because they don’t have t log on to production systems, Balaji added.

BMC Control-M provides these key features:

Self Service to enable business users to request and manage workload services via a web browser to avoid the need for business users to submit service request tickets. IT managers also retain control and compliance of systems with assurance that changes are documented and logged.

Batch Impact Manager
to help firms manage workloads and critical batch job processing operations.  It can also proactively detect potential delays and errors in the batch business processes. Added analyst tools can also detect potential SLA delays.

Advanced File Transfer to integrate, automate, manage and secure (over SFTP) file transfers. It also helps manage file transfers from/to any FTP/SFTP server integrated with your business process, through a central focal point

Business Process Integration (BPI) through an automation broker that allows real-time processes to be integrated into an existing workload automation IT environment. BPI supports current messaging (via WebSphere and MQ Messaging), bi-directional web services, Java and J2EE application servers’ automation.

Enterprise Manager  to provide interactive management-by-exception capabilities that extend beyond job-status monitoring, and offer immediate multi-destination error notification and enhanced problem resolution. Using an easy to navigate GUI, it also lets customers deploy as many development, test, and production environments as needed.

“[U]sers have a better view into their business processes and more control over delivery of their end-product whether that be delivery of a business service or meeting a service level agreement,” said James Russell, BMC’s area vice president of Mainframe Service Management Sales for Asia-Pacific, in the statement.

At ICICI, Balaji noted that BMC Control-M also provided automated reporting on batch job timelines and helped the insurer simplify its ability to meet security and audit compliance requirements for global standards, such as SOX and ISO/IEC 27001.

ICICI Prudential Life is planning to automate virtually all its processes in the future, enabling the company to provide its customer with the best customer service, in real time, he added.
