“Fuse IDE 2.0 is a game changer that makes it easy to visually test, debug and edit [integration] routes for maximum performance.”

James Strachan
Co-founder of Apache Camel, ActiveMQ, ServiceMix
Software Fellow at FuseSource

In specific, the Eclipse-based Fuse IDE 2.0 sports new debugging features to enable devs to more easily and more rapidly develop and integrate applications so they can test, debug and edit routes faster than ever, said James Strachan, a FuseSource software fellow and  creator of the Groovy programming language.

Updates in Fuse IDE 2.0 also reflect requests for new features from a very active community, he added. FuseSource initially rolled out its Fuse IDE in April 2011. The Fuse IDE 2.0 can be used in conjunction with the Apache ServiceMix, Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ, Fuse ESB, Fuse Mediation Router, and Fuse Message Broker products.

“Enterprise developers and architects know all too well how frustrating it can be to find the source of problems when integrating complex applications,” Strachan said in a statement. Fuse IDE 2.0 is a “game changer that makes it easy to visually test, debug and edit routes for maximum performance,” he added.

Aside from Strachan ‘s FuseSource responsibilities, he is also a co-founder of Apache’s popular open source middleware projects ActiveMQ, Camel and ServiceMix.

The Fuse IDE 2.0 product includes the following debugging features:

  • Endpoint browsing allows developers to more easily see and inspect the available messages on endpoints or JMS queues;
  • Message drag and drop from an endpoint or JMS queue to any Camel endpoint or JMS destination so developers can more easily test integrations;
  • A JMX explorer is tailored to view Fuse integration applications;
  • A graphical viewer displays all brokers, queues, topics and Camel endpoints and routes available in a remote JVM; and
  • Route tracing so users can step through each version of each message to see how message headers and bodies change as they move through routes.

FuseSource offers subscriptions for Apache Software Foundation integration and messaging projects Apache ServiceMix, Camel, ActiveMQ and CXF. The Fuse IDE tool makes it possible to visually connect, and now debug, software components.
